SMU-x Hackathon & Moral Home, powered by Gametize: Designing Digital Communities with gamification and AI for Volunteerism and Caregiving
Following three successful runs of SMU-X Leadership & Team-Building (LTB) projects with Gametize and industry leaders, we’re back—with a renewed purpose, new partner, and the same spirit of community innovation. In 2025, we are proud to welcome Moral Home for the Aged Sick as our latest SMU-X industry partner. Powered by Gametize.com, this collaboration invites students to co-create a digital solution that transforms how volunteers are engaged and onboarded in a community-based nursing home setting. And to make this journey possible, we’re calling for mentors.
Make an Impact, Mentor Involvement:
SMU students will take on real-world responsibilities—conducting stakeholder research, prototyping, and presenting implementable ideas to solve real challenges. As a mentor, your expertise can play a vital role in shaping their journey. You will:
- Guide students in applying design-thinking and user research methods
- Offer strategic insights on building scalable, inclusive digital solutions
- Help shape ideas that directly impact the eldercare and volunteer ecosystem
This round’s Demo Day is scheduled for November 2025 (exact date and time to be confirmed). The project centers on designing a digital community-centric strategy with gamification and AI to engage volunteers and caregivers at Moral Home for the Aged Sick. Students will present a working prototype powered by Gametize.com, aiming to streamline volunteer processes and drive long-term engagement.
Previously, students were actively mentored by a dedicated panel of industry experts who volunteered 4–5 hours of their time over the course of the program. We’re deeply grateful for their time, dedication, and support. Meet our past mentor superheroes at: https://app.gametize.com/topic/72214
This year, we’re once again Calling for Mentors. This is more than just a student project—it’s your chance to amplify your mentorship, influence the future of digital eldercare, and inspire meaningful change in the community.
About SMU-X LTB and Collaboration with Moral Home, powered by Gametize:
SMU-X LTB is a program at SMU Lee Kong Chian Business School designed to build leadership and team-building skills through a 12-week experiential project. Previously, Gametize served as the industry partner for three consecutive runs in collaboration with Dr Rani Tan. Student teams explored themes around Sustainability and the Aging Population, designing gamified experiences with engaging content to tackle real-world issues—powered by Gametize’s gamification and community engagement platform.
In 2025, we are excited to welcome Moral Home for the Aged Sick as our new industry partner. This year’s project challenges students to co-create a gamified volunteer management system that enhances volunteer onboarding, engagement, and retention at Moral Home. Continuing to leverage the Gametize platform, this collaboration brings students closer to the realities of eldercare, while empowering them to design meaningful, scalable digital solutions for a socially impactful cause.
